What We Believe

We believe God’s love is for ALL people. We live this by creating spaces of belonging, accepting differences, and reaching out by serving.
ST. PAUL'S UCC MISSION STATEMENT

About Our Denomination

St. Paul’s is part of the United Church of Christ. The United Church of Christ embraces a theological heritage that affirms the Bible as the authoritative witness to the Word of God, the creeds of the ecumenical councils, and the confessions of the Reformation. The UCC has roots in the “covenantal” tradition—meaning there is no centralized authority or hierarchy that can impose any doctrine or form of worship on its members. Christ alone is Head of the church.

We seek a balance between freedom of conscience and accountability to the apostolic faith. The UCC therefore receives the historic creeds and confessions of our ancestors as testimonies, but not tests of the faith.

St. Paul’s has been part of the United Church of Christ since the denomination was formed by the merger of the Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Congregational Christian Church in 1957.

Below are two websites that are associated with the United Church of Christ.  We hope that these websites will provide a good introduction to the United Church of Christ.

Though not a part of the United Church of Christ,  the Center for Congregations  is an organization which helps Indiana churches of all denominations.

Donate

Thank you for considering a monetary donation to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. When you give, you are giving through us, not necessarily to us. Your generous donation will help to fund the many missions and ministries that we provide as a church to the Evansville community. We want to share the our faith and hope with those around us, and your kindness helps us move mountains.
